NAB chairman reviews updates in corruption scandals, says determined to bring all cases to logical end
LAHORE-- Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice Javed Iqbal held a meeting at the Lahore Bureau on Friday to review evolving updates in all major corruption scandals and proceedings over references under trial in the courts.
The NAB Lahore's director general along with the Combined Investigation Team (CITs) presented a thorough briefing to Javed Iqbal over cases and their investigations.
Deputy Prosecutor General Accountability (DPGA), Chaudhry Khaleeq-uz-Zaman represented the Prosecution Wing of the Regional Bureau to highlight the proceedings of under trial references.
The briefing comprised over cases of the Sharif family’s money laundering and all other cases; complaint verification (CV) against the Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Punjab Tahir Khursheed; investigation against former MNA Rana Sanaullah; investigation against former Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif; reference against Fawad Hassan Fawad; reference against Ahad Khan Cheema and other important cases.
The NAB chief issued important instructions in accordance with the developments appeared in cases.
Addressing the Prosecution Wing of NAB Lahore, Javed Iqbal advised the prosecutors to pursue each and every reference with full dedication and devotion. He also asked to play an effective and decisive role in early conclusion of the references.
He stressed the prosecutors to present all witnesses before courts after their proper preparation.
Javed Iqbal maintained that NAB had been putting in exceptionally serious efforts to culminate corruption from society, whereas, bringing all mega corruption scams like cases of assets beyond known sources of income, misuse of authority matters, cases pertaining to money laundering; illegal housing societies’ affairs and others to their logical conclusion without any delay is the top most priority of the NAB.
He further said the NAB had, so far, recovered Rs890 billion during his 4-year tenure and the same had been submitted in the national kitty or disbursed among concerned affectees.
He clarified that "NAB is a solution to the problems faced by public and the country, as well".
The NAB chief made it clear that the loyalty of NAB officers is only for the nation and Pakistani state only and not for any particular group or party. He advised NAB officers to conclude all complaint verifications (CVs), inquiries and investigations, as per law so that the corrupt elements might be brought under the court of law.
Javed Iqbal said the investigations against all bogus and illegal housing societies were being treated on a fast track basis, so the affectees might be facilitated at earliest.
