San Francisco: The privacy settings of messaging app WhatsApp were defaulted last night after Facebook-owned applications suffered a global blackout a few days ago.

WhatsApp privacy settings were reset to default and having the default setting brings up the “Everyone” option in the privacy settings.

WhatsApp users may need to revisit their privacy settings.

Users can customize the privacy settings again, but use the following procedure to restore the group settings.

First go to WhatsApp settings, then go to Account option and go to Privacy. In the Privacy option, go to the Groups option and change the setting from “Everyone” to “My Contacts”.

On October 4, social media apps including Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram were suddenly stopped working in various countries amid technical glitches.
