FIA recovers Rs4 billion from black marketeers of currencies in 4 years

The premier investigation agency lodges 956 cases against criminals involved in black marketing of local and foreign currencies.

Islamabad: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has so far registered 956 cases against criminals involved in black marketing of local and foreign currency and recovered Rs4 billion in the past four years.

Accoridng to FIA spokesman, as many 1,417 accused have been arrested under the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act 1947 and the Anti-Money Laundering Act-2010.

Nearly 81 pe rcent of accused have been convicted after successful prosecution.

FIA Director General Dr Sanaullah Abbasi recently reviewed the progress of ongoing crackdown of FIA against mafia involved in black marketing of currency and directed all the field officers to consider it a national responsibility.
