Now the government will bear the brunt of this rising cost and will try to save the people from it during this time
Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has deferred the summary to increase the prices of petroleum products on Monday.
This news was confirmed by Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill on social media micro-blogging website twitter.
“Now the government will bear the brunt of this rising cost and will try to save the people from it during this time. Prices of petroleum products will not change at this time,” the special assistant said.
“The prime minister did not approve the summary of increasing petrol by Rs11 and diesel by Rs14. The premier said that oil prices were rising due to rising inflation all over the world but the government would do its utmost to save the people of Pakistan from this inflation. Therefore, the prime minister deferred this summary,” Shahbaz Gill said in another tweet.
Earlier, the federal government fell another petrol bomb on the people as the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) on Monday recommended 10.27 per litre hike in the prices of petroleum products.
According to the details, the OGRA sent a summary of the increase in petrol price by Rs10.27 per litre to the Prime Minister's House.
It is proposed to hike the price of kerosene by Rs11.34 per litre and light diesel by Rs11.35 per litre. The price of high speed diesel has been proposed to increase by Rs13.39.
Sources said that the Prime Minister's House has received the summary of OGRA and the prime minister did not approve the recommendation of the OGRA of increase in prices of petroleum products till now.
After the approval of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Ministry of Finance will issue a notification. It will be from 12 o'clock at night.
