Last time a Pakistani Prime Minister paid a bilateral visit to Russia was in 1999
Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Pakistan Imran Khan will visit Russia during February, said the diplomatic sources on Sunday.
According to the sources, the prime minister will pay visit to Russia on the invitation of Russian president Vladimir Putin. “PM’s this tour will be historic as it will take place after a prolonged duration of 23 years,” he added.
The diplomatic sources also mentioned that a delegate along with the premier will visit Russia while the tour will take place during the last week of the on-going month (February). Final scheduling of the visit is underway.
During his visit to Russia, the prime minister will discuss various important issues including bilateral relations and the North-South Gas Pipeline Project.
It is pertinent to mention here that the last time a Pakistani Prime Minister paid a bilateral visit to Russia was in 1999. Former president Asif Ali Zardari had paid his last bilateral visit to Russia as President in 2011.
