Chaudhrys turn down Bilawal’s request to support PDM for Senate chairmanship
Lahore: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in an important political meeting had requested Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to support Yousuf Raza Gilani for the chairmanship of the Senate.
However, the PML-Q chief said that he is an ally of the government and stand by the Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Senate.
According to GNN sources, Bilawal Bhutto in a meeting sought the support of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain for PPP candidate Yousuf Raza Gilani in the election of Chairman Senate while in-house change in Punjab was also discussed.
On a request for backing The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) candidate in Senate Chairman election, Chaudhry Shujaat said that they are allies of the government and also stand with government in the Senate. However, the Chaudhry brothers asked for time till the next meeting with refereeing to the matters in Punjab.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto accompanied by party leaders Qamar Zaman Kaira and Syed Hassan Murtaza reached the residence of Chaudhry brothers.
He called on Quaid-e-Azam Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and inquired about his well-being.
On behalf of PML-Q, Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, Tariq Bashir Cheema, Monis Elahi, Salik Hussain and Hussain Elahi also participated on the occasion.
Earlier, PML-N Vice President Hamza Shahbaz hosted a luncheon in honour of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at his residence in Model Town Lahore.
Both leaders also agreed to take all decisions from the PDM platform.
