Pakistan achieves major milestone of '100 million' vaccinations

Islamabad: Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives, Asad Umar was informed on Sunday that Pakistan's Covid-19 vaccination drive has achieved a historic milestone of administering 100 million vaccine doses.

Taking it to Twitter, Asad Umar said that a major milestone was reached in the national vaccination drive. 100 million Pakistanis are now fully vaccinated.

The federal minister said that more than 127 million have received at least one dose. We are very close to achieving vaccination of all eligible citizens.

It is pertinent to remember that Pakistan is witnessing a significant drop in the daily coronavirus death count for the few days after over a month hike, the health department’s data showed Sunday morning.

According to the latest figures issued by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 755 persons were tested positive while 7 died in the past 24 hours— taking Pakistan's COVID death toll to 30,265.       

Pakistan imposed new restrictions to curb the fast-spreading Omicron variant, hence, the positivity rate now stands at 2.0%. While the cumulative tally of the country has now climbed to 1,514,258.      

As many as 1,454,382 patients have recovered from the disease.
