Lahore set to host PSL6 remaining competitions

According to a local media outlet, the remaining matches of Pakistan Super League 6 (PSL) will soon be played in Lahore.

The PCB is also set to announce the new schedule of the PSL 6 after 3 days, said the news outlet.

In this regard, PCB chairman Ehsan Mani has asked the PSL 6 franchises to wait for 3 days before taking any other decision.

 

Earlier, the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was called off due to the increasing Coronavirus cases among the officials and national, international players.

PCB had formulated a strategy for holding the remaining matches of the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 6) in May this year.

It was believed that May is the only window for arranging the event. Otherwise the season may be in danger of being voided.

PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan, expressed confidence that they would find time to complete the league as they are already looking at various options.

“We will be looking at other windows and we hope to play the event at a later time,” he added.

Earlier on Thursday, in a press statement, PCB stated that following a meeting with the team owners and considering the health and wellbeing of all participants is paramount, the board has decided to postpone the Pakistan Super League sixth edition with immediate effect.

The decision was made after seven cases were reported in the competition, which had started on 20 February, the statement added.

The PCB, as an immediate step focused on the safe and secure passage of all participants, and arranged repeat PCR tests, vaccines and isolation facilities to the six participating sides.

PSL management was considering the option of playing the entire tournament in Karachi instead of moving for the final leg to Lahore as scheduled, from March 10.

Earlier, PCB confirmed three more players from two different teams of Pakistan Super League (PSL) tested positive for COVID-19 and they will now self-isolate for 10 days.

Later, Australian Cricketer Dan Christian, who was playing for Karachi Kings, also decided to leave PSL.

On March 2, two players and one member of support staff of Pakistan Super League (PSL) tested positive for coronavirus, confirmed PCB Media Director, Sami-ul-Hassan Burney. He said that a total of 244 coronavirus tests were conducted out of which three came positive.

 

On March 1, the match between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators was postponed after United’s player Fawad Ahmed tested positive for COVID-19.
