Enduring peace and development inevitable for KP's merged districts: COAS Bajwa

Peshawar: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the Corps Headquarters Peshawar on Wednesday and received detailed briefing on prevailing security situation and progress of development works in newly merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to a statetemnt issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the COAS appreciated security forces for providing enabling environment for the completion of socio-economic development projects in the newly merged districts, vital for enduring stability and sustainable progress of the area.
Bajwa said there was a need for approach and unified response of the nation to counter extremism and defeat terrorism decisively.
Later, the Army chief attended Namaz-e-janaza of martyred Captain Saad Bin Amir and L/Nk Muhammad Irfan who both embraced martyrdom while gallantly fighting the terrorists in South Waziristan.
The Governor KP Shah Farman and provincial ministers were also present.
The COAS reiterated the resolve of Pakistan Army to fight against terrorism till elimination of this menace.
Bajwa vowed that sacrifices of martyrs would not go in vain and complete peace will return to Pakistan.
Earlier, on arrival at Corps Headquarters, the COAS was received by Lieutenant General Faiz Hamid Commander Peshawar Corps.
