Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and leader of opposition Shehbaz Sharif Saturday said that parliament will rewrite history in ‘golden words’ today as it is set to topple Imran Khan’s government.
Right after the session began, several of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNAs started interrupting Shehbaz Sharif’s speech by chanting slogans.
While addressing the session, PML-N leader Shehbaz Sharif reminded the speaker of the Supreme Court’s verdict and urged him to conduct the proceedings accordingly.
Shehbaz pressed the speaker to play his role and let his name go down in history in golden words.
He further stressed that the house should not hold a discussion regarding 'foreign conspiracy' hatched against Imran Khan, to which, the speaker interjected.
Following this, the PML-N leader stated that the Speaker NA Asad Qaiser is bound to follow the orders of Pakistan's apex court.
“We will oust the ‘selected’ Prime Minister by adopting constitutional norms,” he added.
The former Chief Minister of Punjab also thanked the opposition leaders for struggling against the erroneous ruling.
Shehbaz Sharif is widely expected to replace Imran Khan as the country’s prime minister if the no-trust vote against the current government succeeds.
The vote was tabled over what the opposition has called Imran Khan's economic and political mismanagement, blaming him for failing to revive the economy and tackle corruption.
