Google doodle marks Earth Day 2022; shows stark effects of climate change
The images have been taken every December from 1995 to 2020.

Google doodle is marking Earth Day 2022 with time-lapse satellite images—presenting melting glaciers, retreating snow cover, deforestation and coral bleaching to remind impact of human race on the climate and environment.
Today’s Doodle artwork of the search engine is dedicated to the annual Earth Day and addresses the issue of climate change, one of the most pressing topics of our time.
Every year, Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 to mark the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970.
Today’s doodle includes four Gifs created from satellite imagery and photographs from The Ocean Agency.
Google’s real time-lapse imagery shows the impact of climate change across four different locales around Earth. Imagery from each location will be displayed on the homepage of the Google search engine for several hours at a time.
The images have been taken every December from 1995 to 2020.
“Using real time-lapse imagery from Google Earth Timelapse and other sources, the Doodle shows the impact of climate change across four different locales around our planet. Stay tuned throughout the day to view these scenes, each remaining on the homepage for several hours at a time,” says Google.
On Earth, all living creatures are interconnected – from tiny insects to giant mammals, from delicate flowers to towering trees. On this year's Earth Day, we celebrate all life on the planet.
Earth Day was founded in 1970 as a day of education about environmental issues.
The day began as a “national teach-in on the environment” and was held on April 22 to maximize the number of students that could be reached on university campuses.
