Indian climber dies on hike to Nepal's Mount Kanchenjunga

Kathmandu: A 52-year-old Indian climber died while ascending Mt Kanchenjunga in Nepal due to high altitude sickness at a height of 8,200 metres.
According to the preliminary report, the hiker died some 386 metre below the 8,586 metre high peak.
Reportedly, he died while climbing towards the summit point, although he was clearly instructed by the guide not to go above 8,000 meters as he wasn’t in a very good shape.
The country has issued 68 permits to foreign climbers for the 8,586-metre Kanchenjunga this season and six climbers, including four Indian nationals, however, successfully summited the mountain peak.
Narayanan Iyer is the first causality on the mountain this season and the third climber to die in Nepal this year.
Last month, a Greek climber died on the 8,167-metre Dhaulagiri after he fell ill while descending.
Nepal, home to the World’s highest peak Mount Everest, as well as, the third highest peak Kanchenjunga, attracts hundreds of adventurers during the spring climbing season when temperatures are warm and winds are relatively calm.
