Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial on Friday advised the Attorney-General of Pakistan (AGP) Ashtar Ausaf to carefully consider the appointment of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman.
The remarks were made by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial during the hearing of a suo moto case against alleged intervention in high-profile cases, including that of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz, by the government.
The proceeding were heard by a five-member bench comprising, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar.
During the hearing, the Justice Bandial remarked that the Chairman NAB should be a ‘competent’ and trustworthy person, hoping that the federal government would appoint a person of integrity to head the bureau.

While referring to the amendments regarding the rules of Exit Control List (ECL), Chief Justice warned government that in case of non-compliance, the court will issue an order, giving them one week ultimatum to bring the legal framework.
Moreover, the CJP asked the concerned authorities to submit soft copies of all proofs and documents while demanding record of all high profile criminal cases.
The court, however, adjourned the hearing till June 14.
