"We urge India to respect human rights"

Washington: US State Department spokesperson Ned Price has said that Pakistan is our important partner in the region, adding that his country looks for ways to advance this partnership in a manner that serves mutual interests.
Addressing a media briefing, Ned Price said that foreign minister Antony Blinken met with his Pakistani counterpart in New York last month. They had constructive discussions on a number of issues.
“Russia's invasion of Ukraine was also part of the talks between the US and Pakistani foreign ministers. We are working on common interests to enhance partnership with Pakistan.”
The United States has also condemned human rights abuses in India and the demolition of Muslim homes. "We urge India to respect human rights," Ned Price said.
While condemning derogatory remarks by Indian ruling party officials about the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), Ned Price said, "We condemn the offensive comments made by two BJP officials and we were glad to see that the party publicly condemns those comments".
