Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has summoned former premier Yousaf Raza Gillani on March 22 in connection with disqualification petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

According to details, the top electoral body has directed the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator to appear in person or through his lawyer for the hearing along with his son son Ali Haider Gillani.
The plea has been filed by leader Farrukh Habib, Maleka Bukhari and Kanwal Shauzab, seeking disqualification of Gillani over his son’s leaked video.
The petition states that the video has clearly shown how Ali Haider Gilani was telling members national assembly to waste their votes in order to benefit his father in Senate polls.
It further states that after the video went viral, Ali Haider Gillani himself appeared before the media and admitted that he tried to influence the Senate polls.
Therefore, the electoral body is requested to take action against Gillani and his son under Section 174 of the Election Act 2017.
