Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday granted protective bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in a prohibited funding case till October 18.

According to details, the court heard the PTI chairman's plea seeking protective bail in a prohibited funding case.

The court approved Imran Khan's protective bail and directed him to submit surety bonds worth Rs 5000.

Earlier today, Imran Khan moved the court to the Islamabad High Court seeking protective bail in a case registered by the FIA in the prohibited funding case.

Former prime minister Imran Khan, in his plea, has argued that the FIA registered a bogus case against him and pleaded with the court to grant him protective bail so he could appear before the concerned court.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Registrar IHC Asad Khan raised objections to the plea stating that the applicant has not attested a copy of the FIR and how can he contact the high court before appearing in the special court.

The IHC assistant registrar also raised objections to the non-biometrics of Imran Khan.

Later, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah ruled out the objections raised by the registrar's office and heard the plea. The CJ IHC ordered the Islamabad administration not to harass the plaintiff and ordered him to appear before the court by 3pm today.

It is pertinent to mention that Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Corporate Banking Circle on Tuesday lodged a case against 11 people including the former prime minister in the prohibited funding case.
