As ‘deadlier’ third wave continues, Pakistan reports over 4,900 Covid-19 cases in one day
Islamabad: Pakistan on Thursday reported 4,974 new Covid-19 cases and 98 deaths, with authorities linking the uptick in numbers to the third wave of the deadly outbreak across the country.
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 4,974 cases of coronavirus were reported while 98 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 14,530.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 672,931.
As many as 605,274 patients have recovered from the disease with 3,303 critical cases.
Punjab
The number of patients swelled to 223,181 in the province with 6,427 causalities.
Sindh
The number of infections has surged to 265,680 in the province, while the death toll has reached 4,502.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The confirmed cases have surged to 88,099 in the province with 2,363 casualties.
Balochistan
There are 19,576 confirmed cases while 208 patients have died from the infection so far.
AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan
There are 12,805 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 355. On the other hand, there are 5,033 cases in GB with 103 coronavirus deaths.
Islamabad
There are 58,557 cases in the capital city while 572 people have lost their lives
