Imran Khan disqualification: PTI workers stage protests against ECP’s verdict
Angry PTI workers have started rioting in different cities of the country, including Islamabad, Lahore and Faisalabad.


Islamabad: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers Friday staged protest in several cities after the electoral watchdog disqualified party chairman Imran Khan from political office for misleading officials about gifts he received from foreign leaders while in power.
As per the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) consensus verdict, Imran Khan is no more a member of the National Assembly (NA). He has been disqualified for five years under Article 63 (i) (iii) for submitting a false statement in the case.
Following the decision, the angry PTI workers have started rioting in different cities of the country, including Islamabad, Lahore and Faisalabad.
Raising slogans in favor of Imran Khan, Lahore workers along PTI leader Mian Mehmood-ul-Rashid, Andleeb Abbas, Mian Akram Usman and other activists are protesting on the main roads of and have, reportedly, blocked Jail Road.
Moreover, the activists’ have started gathering at Mianwali Watta Khel Chowk. PTI workers of have also blocked the Okara bypass in Okara city.
PTI workers are also raising slogans against the ‘imported government’ and the Chief Election Commissioner in different areas of Karachi.
In the meantime, the federal police have asked all the Station House Officers or SHOs to immediately inform if they receive information about party workers gathering in their areas. The PTI workers, on the other hand, have blocked the road at Faizabad, Rawalpindi.
Apart from this, the Rawalpindi Rawat GT Road was also blocked following which the traffic jam resulted in miles-long queues of vehicles.
