Pakistan President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Monday expressed grief over the sad demise of senior journalist Arshad Sharif.


Islamabad: Pakistan President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Monday expressed grief over the sad demise of senior journalist Arshad Sharif.
On his official Twitter handle, the Premier prayed for the departed soul and commiserated with the bereaved family.
“I am deeply saddened by the shocking news of journalist Arshad Sharif's tragic death. May Allah SWT grant him a place in Heaven. My deep condolences and prayers for the bereaved family,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, President Alvi termed Arshad Sharif’s death ‘a great loss to journalism and Pakistan’.
“May his soul rest in peace and may his family, which includes his followers, have the strength to bear this loss,” he added.

Meanwhile, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb held telephonic conversation with the mother of Journalist Arshad Sharif and expressed deep grief and sorrow over the tragic death of her son.
The Information Minister also apprised her of the information received so far from Nairobi about the incident.
She said details would be shared with the bereaved family about the death of Arshad Sharif as soon as these are received from the Kenyan government. She said we are in contact with the Kenyan government and relevant authorities.
She said the Interior Ministry is in touch with the Kenyan Security agencies and facts will be publicized.
The Information Minister said that speculations should be avoided on the matter.
Earlier, the wife of Arshad Sharif confirmed in a tweet that her husband, senior journalist and anchorperson Arshad Sharif was shot dead in Kenya's Nairobi city.
