Kathmandu: In an unfortunate incident, at least 12 people were killed after a vehicle carrying passengers veered off a mountain highway in Nepal, leaving no survivor behind.
According to details, the ill-fated passenger truck was coming from a wedding ceremony and was reportedly, over its capacity.
The small truck rolled off the mountain road near Chedagad village, about 400 kilometers (250 miles) northwest of the capital, Kathmandu.
Police reported that the accident happened late Monday evening and by the time relief and rescue teams arrived, eight people had already died. Four others sustained serious injuries and later succumbed to their wounds at hospital.
After driving off the road, the truck rolled about 200 meters (650 feet) down the mountain slope.
It is pertinent to mention here that, in Nepal most accidents occur due to poor maintenance of roads and vehicles.
