Babar Azam has broken the record of Muhammad Yousuf after 16 years.


Karachi: Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam has become the highest run-scoring Pakistani batsman i.e. 2,436 in all formats of the game in a year.
The Test match between New Zealand and Pakistan was held at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi.
Babar Azam played another good innings during the match, meanwhile he had won the title of the Pakistani batsman who has scored the most runs in a year.

The record for scoring the most runs during international competitions in a calendar year was then held by the national team's batting coach Muhammad Yousuf.
Yusuf scored 2435 runs in 2006. Thus Babar Azam has broken this record after 16 years.
Before Muhammad Yousuf, in 1996, Saeed Anwar had scored 2296 runs in a year.
The fourth highest run-scorer by a Pakistani batsman in a year is Muhammad Yousuf, who scored 2226 runs in 2002.
In 2000, Inzamam-ul-Haq scored 2164 runs in international competitions.
