The bank also announced that the field offices of SBP-BSC would remain operational on Saturday.


Karachi: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) issues banknotes signed by newly appointed Governor Jameel Ahmad with effect from December 29, 2022, reportedly the central bank stated on Wednesday.
It is reported that the offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation (BSC) will issue the currency notes.
The statement added: “The notes with the signatures of his predecessors will remain in circulation as legal tender”.
The bank also announced that the field offices of SBP-BSC would remain operational on Saturday also for public facilitation to exchange old banknotes.
The new SBP governor Jameel Ahmad was appointed on August 19.
The tenure of previous full-time governor Dr. Raza Baqir ended in May 2022, and the central bank had been without governor till taking over of the acting governor Murtaza Syed.
