Reportedly, the alleged attacker was identified as Zakirullah and arrested from the area of Tarnol Police station.


Khanewal: Two Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel Tuesday martyred when they were shot dead at a local hotel in Khanewal, reportedly confirmed by a senior police official.
According to the details, South Punjab Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Sahabzada Shahzad Sultan termed this incident an ‘act of terror’.
He stated that the suspects were on the motorbike and the incident took place in the parking area of a hotel that killed Direcor CTD Naveed Sial and Inspector Nasir Abbas.
Security agencies immediately cordoned off the area and launched the investigation.
Chief Minister Punjab Pervaiz Elahi paid his condolences over the death of the officers and sought a report from Inspector General (IG) Punjab.
Turning to Twitter, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah expressed grief on the incident and taking the notice he also sought a report from IG Punjab and the provincial chief secretary.
He wrote: “The law and order situation in Punjab is a cause of concern,” adding that government should immediately foreclose to prevent such incidents.

Reportedly, the alleged attacker was identified as Zakirullah and arrested from the area of Tarnol Police station.
The security forces also identified that the suspects was involved in Islamabad’s terrorist attack in December that killed one police official and injured 10 people.
