Islamabad: The Pakistani delegation led by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will leave for Geneva today (Sunday) for the International Conference on Climate Resilient Pakistan on January 9.

The delegation will include federal ministers and other officials including special assistants to Prime Minister (SAPM).

Pakistan will present the Resilient Recovery, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Framework (4RF) at the conference, and seek international support and long-term partnerships for its implementation.

On the occasion of the world conference, the Prime Minister of Pakistan will also have sideline meetings with world leaders as he had contacted the leaders of various countries and invited them to participate in the conference.

Pakistan had invited more than 40 countries including Qatar, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Malaysia, Turkey, Kuwait and China to the conference.

Six state officials have assured participation in the conference, while eight countries have indicated to send ministerial delegations.

Many international financial institutions including International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank, Islamic Development Bank, European Development Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB) and United Nations Development Program will also participate in the conference.

The International Climate Resilient Pakistan Conference will be jointly hosted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
