Baligh-ur-Rehman says he held meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi who he said was not in the favor of dissolution of the provincial assembly and told him that he would convince Imran Khan about not dissolving the legislative.


Lahore: Punjab Governor Baligur Rehman on Wednesday claimed that PML-N Supremo Nawaz Sharif would return to Pakistan within a month.
Baligh-ur-Rehman said PML-N senior vice president Maryam Nawaz would return to the country in a week time.
He made these revelations at the moment when political temperature of the country, especially of Punjab soared.
The Punjab governor said, “I will go to the airport to welcome Nawaz Sharif,”.
He also disclosed that he had had a one-on-one meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi. He claimed that Elahi told him that he did not want to dissolve the provincial assembly.
“Elahi told me that he would convince PTI Chief Imran Khan not to dissolve the provincial assembly,” he added.
Talking about the appointment of caretaker Punjab Chief Minister, the governor was of the view that he made efforts to bring both the opposition and the outgoing Punjab government to a point of agreement regarding appointment of caretaker Punjab CM but he could not succeed.
The governor said, “I also held talks with both Parvez Elahi and Malik Ahmed Khan about appointment of caretaker Punjab chief minister. But they both rejected each other’s names.,”.
When asked about the next general elections and its date, Governor Baligh said that the present system would fulfill the constitutional term.
