LHC fixes for next week Imran’s plea against his removal as party chairman
The PTI Chief has maintained that the electoral watchdog exceeded its powers by trying to remove him as the party’s chairman.
Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) will take up petition of PTI Chief Imran Khan challenging Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) proceedings to remove him as chairman of the party.
The court will hear the plea next week.
According to the details, Imran Khan maintained that the electoral watchdog was exceeding its powers by trying to remove him as PTI chairperson.
The court had previously issued issued a stay order on Khan’s removal as PTI Chairman.
The development took place after the ECP started proceedings to strip PTI chief Imran Khan of his party’s chairmanship following his disqualification in the Toshakhana reference.
Earlier, the Lahore High Court stopped the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from removing Khan as chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The legal battle started after disqualification of Imran Khan in Thoshakhana reference. However, Imran Khan was declared successful on several other seats of the national assembly at the later stage but despite that the legal battle is underway.
