RO accepts Sheikh Rashid's nomination papers
A representative on behalf of Sheikh Rashid participated in the scrutiny process.
Rawalpindi: The Returning Officer (RO) of NA 62 Rawalpindi Saturday accepted the nomination papers of Awami Muslim League (AML) chief and former federal minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.
The AML chief was not produced before the RO due to security reasons, jail authorities informed the returning officer through a letter.
Meanwhile a representative on behalf of Sheikh Rashid participated in the scrutiny process.
Sheikh Rashid could not be presented to the Returning Officer's office for scrutiny, but his nomination papers have been approved.
Later, in a conversation with the media, the representative Sheikh Rashid Shafiq said: “We received a call from jail at 7pm yesterday stating that Sheikh Rashid would not be presented today”.
He also informed that in the absence of Rashid Ahmed, all the proceedings were completed in a legal manner, after which RO approved the nomination papers of Sheikh Rashid.
On this occasion Sheikh Rashid Shafiq alleged that more than 1000 banners of Sheikh Rashid are being removed. Even on his return from Murree, he was taken to meet someone, on which Sheikh Rashid made it clear that he will not meet anyone at night time.
