Punjab likely to impose strict lockdown of two weeks
Lahore: Amid the alarming rise in Covid-19 cases, the Punjab government has reached a consensus over a stricter lockdown in Lahore and other parts of the province for two weeks to contain the rise in coronavirus cases as the Covid-19 positivity rate has soared to more than 12%.
According to details, the Punjab Health Department has sent recommendations to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) for complete lockdown in the province for 14 days.
Earlier today, Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister Dr. Yasmeen Rashid chaired an important meeting of the Anti-Cabinet Committee on Corona.
In the meeting, recommendations were made by the Health Department to further expand the ongoing partial lockdown in eight districts of Punjab including Lahore.
Sources said that the members of the committee agreed to impose another 14-days to the Lahore lockdown, on which the committee decided that the decision would be taken after sending these recommendations to the NCOC.
While referring to NA-75 Daska by-polls, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan stated that Prime Minister Imran Khan has fulfilled his promise of holding fair and transparent elections.
The statement came after Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Nosheen Iftikhar won the by-election in NA-75 Daska and secured 111,220 votes, whereas Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Ali Asjad Malhi obtained 92,019 votes.
