Islamabad: The federal government has prohibited the president, prime minister, cabinet members, judges, civil and military officers from retaining gifts worth more than $300 from Tosha Khana, GNN reported.
According to details, the government has immediately implemented Tosha Khana Policy 2023 and has issued orders to all institutions in this regard.
It is reported that government imposed a ban on receiving vehicles, watches, jewelry and other gifts worth millions.
It is also prohibited for president, prime minister, cabinet members, judges, civil and military officers to receive cash as gifts from domestic and foreign personalities.
Upon receiving forced cash gifts, they will be instructed to immediately deposit the entire amount in the national treasury, while those valuable vehicles or antiquities received as gifts, no person shall be authorized to purchase vehicles and valuables.
The vehicles received as gifts will be decorated in the central pool, valuable antiques will be decorated in official places. The officials will be able to buy gifts worth less than 300 dollars at the market value. Whereas public will be authorized to buy gifts worth more than $300 through open auction.
Reportedly, apart from the President and Prime Minister, other personalities will be banned from receiving gifts for their families, besides, gold and silver coins will be handed over to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
It is also reported that strict action will be taken against the concerned person for violating the Tosha Khana policy. The officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be obliged to provide the gifts to the Cabinet Division.
The value of the gifts will be determined by the expert officers of Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) and private firms, while the value of the weapons received as gifts will be determined by private firms and Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF).
