Islamabad: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has allowed the Sui Northern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) raise prices from gas consumers to recover its shortfall of billions of rupees.

The regulatory authority announced its order on petition filed by the company approved hike in gas price by Rs315.60 per mmtbu to Rs881.40 from its previous price of Rs565.81/mmbtu in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The latest surge will put an additional burden of Rs233 billion on public.
The development comes a day after the ogra approved an increase of Rs39.89 per mmbtu in gas price for Sindh and Balochistan on the request of the Sui Sothern Gas Limited.
With the latest surge, the new price stands at Rs778.59/mmbtu. The new price will come into affect once the notification is issued.
