The notification says that due to non-fixation of price, sugar has become expensive in the market by 30%.


Lahore: Ministry of Food and Agriculture has issued a notification to set the retail price of sugar at Rs98.82 per kg across the country at the recommendation of the Sugar Advisory Board.
According to the notification, the price of sugar will include sales tax of Rs14.58, profit and expenses of sugar mills will be added up to Rs5.30.
In the new price Rs0.25 will be the distributor's margin, transport cost of Rs2 per kg and retailer's profit of Rs1 per kg is included in the total cost.
In the notification, it has been said that due to non-fixation of price, sugar has become expensive in the market by 30%.
Ministry of Food and Agriculture says that the district administration will be obliged to sell sugar at official rates.
On the other hand, the consumers say that the commodity is being sold at Rs125 per kg even in departmental stores, while the price in open market is Rs130 per kg.
