Islamabad: Supreme Court Tuesday to hear the pleas registered against Practice and Procedure Bill 2023 curtailing the powers of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), GNN reported.
According to details, eight-member larger bench headed by CJP Umar Atta Bandial comprising Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Sayyad Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Ayesha Malik, Justice Shahid Waheed and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar will hear the case.
Supreme Court has issued notice to all political parties including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Members of Pakistan Bar will also present before the court today.
Three petitions were filed under Article 184(3) of the Constitution by Raja Amer Khan, Chaudhry Ghulam Hussain, Advocate Muhammad Shafay Munir, and others.
The bill entitled as “Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Bill 2023”, aimed at limiting the powers of CJP office to take suo motu notice in an individual capacity.
