COAS meets Afghan, Chinese FMs, discuss regional security, border management
COAS Asim Munir assured complete security of CPEC project.
Islamabad: Chie of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir met Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi and Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang in General Headquarters (GHQ) Islamabad stressing the need to enhance cooperation between the countries to effectively deal with the challenges of terrorism and regional security, told Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to ISPR, during the meeting with Afghan FM, matters of regional security were discussed. It also acknowledged the important role that Pakistan plays for development and peace in Afghanistan.
Muttaqi and Asim Munir talked about removing the menace of terrorism highlighting the incidents that take place from Afghan soil, the military’s media wing said.
COAS stated that Afghan soil should not be allowed to be used for terrorism against Pakistan. They also discussed the mutual steps to make the security situation better at Pakistan-Afghan border.
On the other hand in a separate meeting with Chinese FM Qin Gang, army chief discussed regional security, matters of mutual interest, and Pakistan-China relations.
Qin Gang expressed satisfaction over long-term strategic relations with Pakistan and stressed over enhancing them.
He also talked about Pakistan-China relations by highlighting the latest development in China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
