Erdogan added that his government would continue to work on raising the wages and pensions of civil servants.
Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced raise of 45 percent in the salaries of nearly 700,000 civil servants a few days before the presidential and parliamentary elections.
According to details, the general elections in Turkiye are scheduled for May 14.
“We are increasing wages by 45 percent, including the welfare share,” the president said, according to a statement on the government’s website. “Thus, we are raising the lowest public worker wage to Turkish Lira (TL) 15,000 ($768 per month).”
He added that his government would continue to work on raising the wages and pensions of civil servants.
Foreign media reports told that this increase in salaries will be for six months starting from June.
It is pertinent to note that about 5 million employees work in government departments in Turkey.
