Defense Minister Khawaja Asif stated that a section of the judiciary is giving "unprecedented concessions" to PTI Chairman Imran Khan in corruption cases.
Islamabad: Pakistan's National Assembly passed a resolution on Monday to constitute a committee that would file a reference against Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial. The resolution was presented during a heated session in which many members expressed the need for Parliament to assert its powers.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif stated that a section of the judiciary is giving "unprecedented concessions" to PTI Chairman Imran Khan in corruption cases. Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Raja Riaz condemned recent violent acts in the country and held trained elements of the PTI responsible for the attack on the Corps Commander House in Lahore and the monuments of martyrs.
MQM's Salahuddin also condemned the violent acts and stated that the judiciary is giving concessions to Imran Khan, who is allegedly responsible for public and private properties being ransacked.
These events suggest concerns regarding the relationship between the judiciary and political parties in Pakistan.
