In response to the backlash, the Mumbai police assured the public that they had informed the traffic branch about the incident.
The controversy intensified when actress Anushka Sharma was also spotted riding a bike without a helmet.
To address the situation and clarify the circumstances surrounding the photo, Amitabh Bachchan took to his blog page to provide an explanation.
He revealed that the picture was taken during an on-location shoot in Mumbai on a Sunday. The production team had obtained formal permission to shoot in a lane in Ballard Estate, which was blocked off by the police for the shoot.
As there was no public or traffic in the area due to the shoot being scheduled on a Sunday when offices were closed, Bachchan opted to take a lift from a random person on the road to reach his work on time.
Amitabh Bachchan apologized to his fans and followers for any concerns caused by the photo, emphasizing that it was taken during a controlled and supervised shoot.
He expressed regret for any misconception it may have created regarding traffic rules and affirmed his love for his fans.
