Washington:  United States (US) has refused from commenting on the recent breakthrough in Pakistan-Iran bilateral ties as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iran's President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi jointly inaugurated a cross-border marketplace.

When questioned about this development, a spokesperson from the US State Department stated that they had no comments to provide on the engagement between the two neighboring countries.

However, the US reiterated the importance of its relationship with Pakistan, emphasizing that ensuring Pakistan's economic growth, energy security, and environmental sustainability remained a priority.

The spokesperson highlighted the significant investments made by US firms in Pakistan, totaling $250 million in direct foreign investments during the last fiscal year.

These investments are aimed at expanding Pakistan's access to cleaner and more resilient energy sources.

The spokesperson also mentioned the involvement of General Electric (GE), a US-based multinational conglomerate, in Pakistan's energy sector.

GE's wind turbines, control systems, and equipment are being widely used, contributing to Pakistan's renewable energy potential.

Furthermore, American technology is being installed at the Mangla Power Station for the first time, and GE Hydro France is supplying generation units for other dams under construction.

The United States is actively working towards the restoration and construction of the Mangla and Tarbela dams, showcasing its commitment to Pakistan's development and infrastructure projects.
