The news started doing the rounds on the internet after a section of the Indian media confused Vivek Oberoi with Tamil actor Vivekh, who passed away earlier on Saturday morning.

Vivek Oberoi took to his Twitter handle and issued a clarification after his fans got concerned about his health.

"There has been a false news report about me being hospitalised in Chennai, “I would like to clarify that I am safe & healthy with my family in Mumbai”.

The 44-year old conveyed his condolences on the death of popular Tamil actor Vivekh who was put on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support at a hospital in Chennai after suffering a cardiac arrest and died on Saturday.

“Deeply saddened to hear abt the demise of @Actor_Vivek from the Tamil industry. I extend my deepest condolences to his family," he wrote.

Earlier, the actor had taken to Instagram to share a video of himself receiving his first COVID-19 vaccination shot.
