Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi acquitted in two corruption cases, re-arrested in third case
Senior Civil Judge Muhammad Afzal announced the verdict reserved after hearing arguments of both sides, and directed the officials to immediately release him.

Gujranwala: A major legal victory for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as a local court acquitted its President Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi in two other cases registered against him under charges of corruption.
Senior Civil Judge Muhammad Afzal announced the verdict reserved after hearing arguments of both sides. The court directed the officials to immediately release him.
Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi was booked in two cases including 6/23 and 7/23 by the ACE officials. This is a major legal victory for the PTI leader after a Lahore court discharged him in a corruption case and ordered the ACE officials to set him free.
However, the ACE officials arrested Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi in another two cases after he was set free by the court, and they shifted him from Lahore to Gujranwala.
The latest reports said that he has been arrested again in a third case after the court set him free in two cases of corruption. The ACE officials said that Elahi was arrested in a case related to fake recruitments in Punjab Assembly.
Amir Mir, the Punjab caretaker information minister, had earlier criticized the judicial magistrate for acquitting Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi. He alleged that the judge passed the order without hearing arguments.
The PTI president was accused of bribery in the development projects.
Earlier in the day, an Anti-Terrorism Court acquitted PTI leader Dr. Yasmin Rashid in a case related to vandalsim at Jinnah house in Lahore. The court directed the authorities concerned to release the PTI leader.
