Tareen’s efforts to gather PTI’s deserters won’t damage PML-N’s vote Bank: Rana Sanaullah
The Interior Minister urges the PML-N to remain calm regarding Jahangir Tareen's actions, saying that the party’s vote bank is secure.

Lahore: Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah expressed confidence that the recent exodus of leaders from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jahangir Tareen's efforts to gather party deserters would not harm the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) as their "vote bank is not going anywhere."
Speaking in an interview with a private TV channel, Sanaullah urged the PML-N to remain calm regarding Jahangir Tareen's actions, stating that their vote bank is secure. He acknowledged that the dynamics in Punjab had changed following the May 9 riots but predicted that the PTI would divide into two or three factions, with some members joining the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), others aligning with Jahangir Tareen, and a remaining portion staying in the PTI.
In light of this scenario, Sanaullah emphasized that if the PTI were to split into multiple factions, the PML-N should remain composed. He also mentioned that if the PTI chairman were to be disqualified, Shah Mahmood Qureshi would assume leadership of the party.
Following the May 9 attacks, which resulted in Imran Khan's arrest and widespread riots, the government has decided to try those involved in military courts. The PTI has witnessed several leaders leaving the party, and various groups within the PTI have emerged recently.
Sanaullah characterized the PTI's actions during the May 9 attacks as a rebellion against the state, stating that no party can seek relief after rebelling against the state. He specifically named PTI leader Dr. Yasmin Rashid for her alleged involvement in taking the mob to Jinnah House and accused Hammad Azhar of playing a "criminal role" in the riots.
Regarding the upcoming elections, Sanaullah mentioned that general elections are expected to take place in October or November. He revealed that the PML-N has requested party supremo Nawaz Sharif to lead the campaign and seek protective bail. Sanaullah stated that Nawaz Sharif has promised to lead the party during the election campaign in response to the party's request.
