The finance minister clarifies that the Shell Petroleum Company is selling its shares to another international company.

Islamabad: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that they had proper arrangements in the place for the payments of the loan back to the international institutions, saying that the ministry of finance contacted the Chinese banks and conveyed them that they [Pakistan] wanted to make prior payments.
“We did payments earlier this week on Monday to the Chinese Bank. The Chinese bank also paid that loan back to Pakistan,” said Ishaq Dar while talking to the media on Saturday.
The finance minister said that $300m payment was made on Friday and that amount would also be back soon.
The third major payment, he said, was of $1000m and that would also be made. The finance minister said that Pakistan had all arrangements in place for the payment of the dues to the international institutions.
Ishaq Dar clarified about Shell Petroleum Company and its withdrawal from Pakistan, saying that the news is completely incorrect. He said that the shell wanted to sell its share to another multinational company.
“This is information is not like that. We need some clarification. Shell is not closing its business. Shell is going to sell its shares to another international company. The business of the company will go on as in the past,” he further said.
He also made it clear that Shell had nothing to do with the ongoing situation in the country.
