Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) said: “Under Article 188, the court has the power to review, there is no set limit".

Islamabad: Supreme Court of Pakistan Monday reserved its verdict on the petitions filed against Review of Judgment Act.
According to details, three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Atta Bandial comprising Justice Muneeb Akhtar and Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan heard the case against the Review of Judgment Act.
Umar Atta Bandial stated that the decision will be pronounced soon. However, Justice Muneeb Akhtar remarked that this law is directly related to the powers of the Supreme Court.
During the arguments, the petitioners adopted the arguments of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) counsel, Barrister Ali Zafar. Chief Justice said that lawyers should also submit their arguments in writing. “If there is anything left to note, then we will see through written arguments”.
Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan continued his arguments and said: “Under Article 188, the court has the power to review, no limit is set”.
According to article 184 (3), cases and appeals cannot be treated in the same way, he added.
CJP Bandial remarked that the power to legislate is with the legislators. “How can revision and appeal be seen as the same”?
The court has to take into account the facts. If the scope of review is extended, will it not be different, he inquired.
