Islamabad: Pakistan has reported 98 deaths and 5,857 new cases of coronavirus in one day as the third wave of the pandemic continued to rage across the country.

According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 5,857 cases of coronavirus were reported while 98 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 16,698.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 778,238.
As many as 676,605 patients have recovered from the disease with 4,593 critical cases.
Punjab
The number of patients swelled to 279,437 in the province with 7,718 causalities.
Sindh
The number of infections has surged to 275,081 in the province, while the death toll has reached 4,562.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The confirmed cases have surged to 109,704 in the province with 2,990 casualties.
Balochistan
There are 21,242 confirmed cases while 226 patients have died from the infection so far.
AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan
There are 16,026 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 449. On the other hand, there are 5,215 cases in GB with 104 coronavirus deaths.
Islamabad
There are 71,533 cases in the capital city while 649 people have lost their lives.
