May 9 events: Punjab govt submits list  in SC of arrested

Islamabad: Punjab government Friday submitted the data report to Supreme Court regarding the people arrested after May 9 incidents, GNN reported.

According to details, the report has been submitted by the government during the hearing of petitions against the trials of civilians in military courts in the Supreme Court.

The report submitted by the Punjab government does not include the data of the accused in the custody of the army, while the data of minor children, journalists and lawyers has also not been included.

According to the report, 81 women were detained in the May 9 incidents, of which 42 have been released on bail, while 39 women involved are currently in judicial remand prisons.

The report states that 2285 arrest warrants have been issued under Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) and currently 21 people are in jails.

It has been added in the report that 3050 people were found involved in the incidents of vandalism, 51 cases were registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act and 1888 people were arrested under the ATC Act, out of which 108 accused were on physical remand and 1247 on judicial remand. While the identity of 33 people was paraded under the anti-terrorism law.

The report further states that 232 people have been released on bail under the Anti-Terrorism Act and 500 people have been declared innocent.

According to the report, 247 cases were registered under other laws against the suspects involved in the May 9 incidents, in which 4119 people were arrested, 86 of them are on physical remand and 2464 are on judicial remand, 368 people have been identified in other cases. 3012 persons were released on bail in various cases and 1201 persons have been acquitted so far.
