Politics should be separated from sports: FM spokesperson

Lahore: Pakistani government is currently evaluating its participation in the upcoming ICC World Cup, which is set to take place in India later this year.
The decision comes as doubts loom over Pakistan's involvement in the tournament.
A recent stalemate over the hosting of the Asia Cup 2023 had raised concerns about Pakistan's participation in the World Cup.
India had refused to visit Pakistan for the regional cricket tournament, leading the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to threaten a potential withdrawal from the World Cup.
While the hosting issue for the Asia Cup was eventually resolved with the approval of PCB's hybrid model, Pakistan's participation in the World Cup remains under evaluation, as confirmed by the Foreign Ministry.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch expressed disappointment over India's policy of not playing cricket in Pakistan and emphasized the need to separate politics from sports.
The evaluation process will take into consideration the security situation for Pakistani cricketers, and the views will be shared with the PCB in due course.
