Oscar-winning famous Hollywood actor passed away
Alan attended Benington College but later dropped out to form his own music group.
New York: Famous Hollywood actor Alan Arkin, who won an Oscar for his role in film 'Little Miss Sunshine', has passed away at the age of 89.
According to details, Alan Arkin was born in Brooklyn to a Russian-German immigrant couple and later moved to Los Angeles with his parents as a child.
Alan attended Benington College but later dropped out to form his own music group which did not survive for long but his hit song 'Banana Boat Song' of 1957 to his credit.
After the breakup of music group, he joined the Second City Improvisational Troupe as a founding member and began recording music, but his passion for acting remained constant.
In 1963, Arkin won a Tony Award for Best Actor in his Broadway debut, ‘Inter Laughing’, and a Drama Desk Award for directing the play ‘Little Murderers’ in 1968.
In his film debut, he was nominated for an Oscar for his role as Rozanov in the 1966 war comedy ‘The Russians are coming’.
He also received an Oscar nomination for his performance in ‘The Heart Is Lonely’ in 1967 and, 'Argo' in 2012.
Alan Arkin was also nominated for an Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award, and SAG Award for Best Performance as an actor in a leading role.
