The Meteorological Department has advised the tourists to be careful to avoid any unpleasant situation during the rains.


Islamabad: The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy monsoon rains across the country from today Monday to Sunday, while flood warnings have also been issued in urban areas due to heavy rains.
According to the statement issued by the Department of Meteorology, humid winds from the Arabian Sea are entering the upper regions of the country. From the evening/night of July 3 (today), the series of western winds will enter the upper regions of the country, due to which, from July 3 evening/night to July 8, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral, Swat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Karam, Bannu and Lakki Marwat heavy rain is expected.
According to the spokesman, Kohat, Mianwali, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh with strong winds and thundershowers while in some places heavy rain and hail are also likely.
From July 5 to July 8, Barkhan, Loralai, Sibbi, Nasirabad, Kalat, Khuzdar, Zhob, Lasbela, Awaran, Musa Khel, Dera Ismail (DI) Khan, Bannu, Karak, Waziristan, Dera Ghazi (DG) Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Bhakkar, Leh, Kot Addu, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Sahiwal and Okara with strong winds and thundershowers while heavy rain is also likely at few places.
Strong windstorms during July 7 and July 8 in Sukkur, Jacobabad, Ghotki, Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana, Mithi, Chur, Padaidan, Nangarparkar, Tharparkar, Umarkot, Sanghar, Mirpur Khas, Dadu, Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad and Karachi. Thundershowers while scattered and heavy rains are also expected at few places.
According to Met Department, there is a risk of urban flooding due to heavy rain in the low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Gujranwala and Lahore from July 4 to July 7.
While landslides are expected in the mountainous areas of Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Farmers should organize their crops keeping in mind the weather forecast.
The Meteorological Department has advised the tourists to be careful to avoid any unpleasant situation during the rains. Due to strong winds/thunderstorms and heavy rains, weak infrastructure, electric poles, solar panels may get damaged. In the meantime, people were instructed to stay in safe places.
