Islamabad: The first batch of the Covid-19 vaccine is likely reach Pakistan from China tomorrow by a special plane of of Pakistan Air Force (PAF).
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), measures for vaccine storage and delivery have been finalized by the relevant authorities.
The vaccine will be stored in Islamabad from where it will be dispatched to other provinces including Sindh, Khyber Pkahtunkhawa and Balochistan.
A vaccine Center has also been set up in Islamabad, NCOC officials stated.
Reportedly, China has handed over a special container to Pakistan to bring five hundred thousand doses from Beijing.
Earlier, Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar said that vaccine will be administered to all front line health workers from next week.
The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has granted approval to three coronavirus vaccines for widespread use in the country. The vaccines include Russian Sputnik V, Oxford–AstraZeneca and China's Sinopharm.
Authorities are hopeful that first batch of Sputnik V would also arrive in Pakistan by the end of January.
Pakistan has reported 65 deaths and over 2000 coronavirus cases in last 24 hours.
