Peshawar: Children are suffering from various diseases due to increase in heat intensity in Peshawar.
More than 600 children suffering from gastroenteritis and diarrhea are being brought to the three teaching hospitals of Peshawar every day.
High number of children suffering from gastro and diarrheal diseases have been admitted to the hospitals, due to which two to three children are kept in a bed at Lady Reading Hospital.
According to health experts, mothers who do not breastfeed their children have less immunity.
Experts also told that gastro is a deadly disease of inflammation of the stomach and intestines whose symptoms include headache, fever, stomach pain and vomiting.
It is stated that the main cause of the disease is the use of contaminated water and poor food.
According to the data of health department, 30 to 40 percent of children in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa suffer from diarrhea every year, while 20 percent of children suffer from gastroenteritis.
Medical experts say that in hot weather, children can be protected from diseases by having a balanced diet, drinking more water, and raising awareness among parents.
