Lahore admin reviews arrangements for Muharram processions
The latest reports say that all necessary arrangements have been completed for the processions taking place at Shadman, Thokar Niaz Baig, Pandu Street, Walled City Lahore and Model Town.
Lahore: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rafia Haider on Sunday held a meeting to assess the preparations and arrangements for the upcoming Muharram processions in the city.
The district government confirmed that all necessary arrangements had been completed for the processions taking place at Shadman, Thokar Niaz Baig, Pandu Street, Walled City Lahore and Model Town.
In anticipation of monsoon rains, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) would install camps and dewatering machines along the routes. Additionally, the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) would carry out cleaning operations in double shifts to maintain cleanliness and sanitation on the procession routes.
To handle any unforeseen medical emergencies, the health department would establish a temporary hospital. A dedicated control room, equipped with CCTV cameras, will be monitored by DC Rafia Haider to ensure the smooth progress of the processions.
During the meeting, it was revealed that 478 CCTV cameras and 292 security gates would be installed along the procession routes to ensure effective monitoring and security. The plan also included the presence of 300 motorcycle ambulances, 26 fire brigade vehicles, and seven rescue vehicles to address any emergency situations along the way.
